• Welcome!

Hi there! My name is Stephanie. This blog offers a peek into my life, business and other craziness that I come across. A place where I can share the thoughts I have on sessions, my amazing clients and the fun tales of photographing.

I am based in Birmingham, AL but love to travel to different places. I will more than likely be in Birmingham for the long haul but I want to travel everywhere.

Currently, the blog portion of the site is the only thing up and running. But I am working on it. Who knew these things were so difficult to set up? So, please bear with me as I back date posts and go through years of images to get everything going.

Thanks for stopping by - be sure to leave comments! It makes me feel better knowing that someone was here.

Baby Wade at Seven Months – Birmingham, Alabama Baby Photographer

The Wade Family is back on the blog! I seriously love this family. Baby Sam is growing up – remember his newborn photos?? I can’t believe how much he’s doing now and I know his parents can’t really believe it either. I might shed a tear or two when he starts to talk or walk.

The time between six and nine months is so much fun. There’s so much development and changing – not to mention the most adorable rolls and chunkiness. So, when the Wades asked me to shoot Sam for his mid first year photos, I couldn’t contain myself. And just in time for this session, Sam learned how to pucker and bite his lower lip. I was laughing so hard at his little face. Sam’s parents were amazing, as always. They are always so comfortable in front of the camera (which is so very hard to be able to do) and it makes the whole session just smooth.

I love when parents want to have a one-on-one picture with their little ones.

Thanks again guys! He’s such a happy baby. I can’t wait until his (gasp) first birthday!

The Basics: A Camera Workshop Birmingham, Alabama

At the request of a few parents, I’ve decided to offer a half day workshop that will teach you to use your DSLR. This is not a workshop for anyone looking to gather information and use it for profit purposes. This is for parents, grandparents, new camera owners – anyone with questions about what all the buttons and gadgets are on the back of their camera. Nikon or Canon, it doesn’t matter. I will have information that is specific to the gear that you have already.

If you would like to register or have more questions, please email stephanie@stephaniewelbourne.com

See ya there!

February Instagram – Project 365

It’s the first of March, so that means it’s time for another installment of the project365. In case you missed the January post, follow me on Instagram (username: freckles) for daily, quirky photos of these two.

In February, there were cat baths (yes, baths), new cat friends, and tons of cat faces ranging from ‘over it’ to terrified.

For March, I hope to keep up as well as I did in February. Maybe some warmer weather will get the cats moving around and outside a bit more. We shall see!

January Instagram – Project 365

For those that don’t follow me on Instagram (username: freckles), I have been trying out a Project 365. Basically, you take a photo a day for the year. Sounds easy to do, but it really takes some dedication – even for a photographer.

I have tried before but didn’t have a direction. That just made me feel overwhelmed. I need some inspiration or something to get me going. With the new year, I decided that I had my inspiration in front of me the whole time – the two adorable, trouble-making cats that make my life interesting to say the least.

My subjects are Gramarye who is the fluffiest, most bipolar cat ever. She’s almost 12 years old. She wants everything on her terms – petting, touching, feeding. She has me trained pretty well. Dermot is the short hair guy. He’s almost 5. More dog than cat, he pretty much takes it all in stride and desperately wants to be an outdoor cat. Oh yeah, he drools too.

We pretty much have everything going for us here – cat faces, cats in weird places, cats doing cat things, a cat with a pancake on his head.I can already tell a difference in how I see them – which is crazy because they’ve been a part of my life for so long. I hope to continue to see them do strange and curious things all year round.

If you are paying attention, you notice there are only 26/31 images. I traveled for work for a week mid month and didn’t really plan on what to do for that week. Lesson learned, I shoot several photos and just have a cushion for those times I can’t be around the subjects. It may be cheating a little, but I figure it is really the closest I can get with traveling.

Follow me on Instagram if you want to see daily photos and quips about what trouble they are causing.

Baby Sumners, Nine Days – Birmingham, Alabama Newborn Photographer

Oh poor blog, it seems that you have been neglected over the holidays.  Hopefully the newborn cuteness coming up will make up for it!

There are few things in the world that make me as giddy as photographing a newborn. I love how small they are, how new everything is with both baby and parents, and the adorable movements and faces. Baby Sumners did not disappoint.

Now, not all moments photographing a newborn are wonderful. In fact, this poor papa got the raw end of the deal when his little girl decided to potty on him – twice. But he was a trooper!

And mom is just glowing with her baby girl.

My favorite part of this session was the non-posed parts. Baby S just looked around the room, taking in all the detail.

Thanks again for letting me shoot your precious little one!
